About Communications Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP) CEP (Communications Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada) is one of Canada's largest unions, representing all kinds of workers, from one end of the country to the other.
We work at pulp and paper mills, telephone companies, in the oil, gas chemical and mining industries. We are printers, journalists, radio and TV broadcasters, graphic artists, hotel workers, IT workers, truck drivers - you name it, CEP members do it.
Our union was formed in 1992, through a merger of three smaller unions, and we've been growing steadily ever since. Today, we are 150,000 strong.
About CEP Local 1996 Local 1996 consist of telecommunications workers in Toronto and the GTA. We are comprised of people who work for Bell Technical Solutions . Bell Technical Solutions are responsible for communications installation and repair service for Bell Canada throughout Ontario and Quebec. Bell Canada is Canada's largest telecommunications company. Through operations that span across Canada and beyond, Bell Canada provides residential and business customers with wireline and wireless telecommunications products, applications and services, direct-to-home satellite television services as well as Internet access and high-speed data services.
Bell Canada operates primarily as the incumbent telephone company in Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada and Northern Canada as well as a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) in Alberta and British Columbia.
