The elections will take place over 3 days and the results will be posted sometime after 1700hrs on Friday December 5 2008 on the website. The elections committee hopes all members will find some time to come in and vote if possible. This is your opportunity to have your say on who will be helping to run your local for the next 2 years.

Why have Elections?
Elections are an important facet of the Union. We hold them because of the democratic nature of the organization.

Our collective agreement expires in may 2009. In order to prepare for bargaining please fill out the Bargaining Proposals form . If you have any suggestions for the bargaining committee to take to the table when they start negotiations next year - make a note of your proposal(s) and forward them to myself or your stewards.

Dave Coles returns as CEP president

Dave Coles was acclaimed as president of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada at its convention in Montreal this week. Gaétan Ménard, was acclaimed as CEP Secretary-Treasurer, Peter Murdoch as Vice-President Media, and Michel Ouimet as Executive Vice-President, Quebec.

As the next step in our work to help streamline Bell, today I am announcing the following changes to the Human Resources / Communications team reporting directly to me. 

As stated in the memo sent out July 14th, the core problem to reach an Out of Province Protocol is that in the event of a labour dispute, the Bargaining Committee could not agree to have members working while others were on a picket line in either Province, and this was a position unanimously supported by the Quebec & Ontario Bargaining Committee.
 

Further to the memo dated May 22nd 2008 regarding the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver British Columbia, the Union and the Employer have not been able to establish an Out Of Province Protocol for this assignment.
