Once Again, Bell Sticks it to Retirees

Once Again, Bell Sticks it to Retirees

First, they jammed us with the DC pension plan.
Then they came after our PAPP.
Now they want our PRBs.

When will Bell’s attack on our retirement security end?

CEP intends that the attack will stop now!

CEP is currently investigating every possible legal option available to us to stop Bell’s plan to ravage our retirement protections.

In addition to that legal fightback, CEP members will soon also have the ability to fight back at the bargaining table.

Bargaining with Bell begins this fall. We assure members that the protection of PRBs for all future CEP retirees will be front and centre when our demands to Bell hit the table.

This isn’t the first time that Post-Retirement Benefits have been under attack by Bell. In 1999 we went on strike to prevent Bell from imposing a $12 per month benefit premium on retirees. After six weeks we won that strike and Bell backed off on PRB premiums.

If Bell thinks we will now sit quietly while they take away our PRBs altogether, they are sadly mistaken.

Bell says they are screwing us out of our retirement protections because their competitors similarly mistreat their retired employees.

If Bell really wants to compete, they better understand that they can’t do it without us, and we won’t do it unless we are being treated fairly.
