Family Day is a statutory holiday in Ontario for Ontario jurisdiction employers; therefore, it is considered a regular workday for our members. As you are aware, CEP will also claim at arbitration that our members at BTS are now entitled to Remembrance Day under Federal jurisdiction. Read More...

1. Federal Jurisdiction: Effective December 10, 2009, BTS was transferred by the Canadian Industrial Relations Board from Provincial to Federal Jurisdiction. We are now covered by the Canada Labour Code, which has a number of differences from the Ontario Labour Relations Act, mostly in the area of employment standards and the rules around collective bargaining.  Once a year, in accordance with the Collective Agreement under Article 20.01, during the entire month of January, Regular Full Time and Regular Part Time employees are eligible to submit a transfer request form with their names to be placed onto the 2010 transfer list through their respective Operations Manager.
